Prime Timers
Back in the Late 70 or early 80 Mabel Johnson and June Miller went to Pastor Rock and talked with him about starting meetings for the seniors. They were told they were an answer to Prayer because he has been praying for this for sometime. He told them the only thing he would ask was for them to always have a speaker for devotions every meeting. Bill Marshall helped when it first started. Back then the age started at 55.
Later the youth Pastor Tom Hurt was the leader. Later Our youth Pastor Joe Peters would be leader. The seniors would always want a Big Christmas. They would have 50 or 60 people at Christmas. This was all at there own expense.
Later in early 80 the name was changed to THE PRIME TIMERS. At some point the age changed to 50.We had a Prime Timers Chore, Which was led by Jack Carter, we did a song named WE ARE HAVING THE TIME OF OUR LIFE, would sing once a month .We go out to eat a lot. We try to have a cook out at someone home once or twice a year. We sometime go on shopping trips. We have from 12 to 37 people at our meetings. 37 were most to be at a meeting. Christmas 2010 we went to the Depot in Dobson had 31 to go.
We went to the Barn Dinner theater in May 2011 to hear Patsy Cline impersonator which was very good. Had 20 to go with us there.
June we went to Seafood Shack in Walkertown, Great Food 20 attended. July, (Very Hot) went to the home of Earl Burton for a cook out, our meal in the garage part of the home and it was very comfortable. Not Hot. GREAT.
